The Vitality Difference
We’ve got hippie roots and a little something extra.
Our program is highly personal and individualized, Vitality only accepts 30 students a session to ensure personal training attention and a small training group. Both programs study Pilates at its most elemental level and include an introduction to Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Pathology as they relate to Pilates. Students receive training on the full spectrum of Pilates equipment including the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Mat, Ladder Barrel, Ped-O-Pull and Props such as foam rollers, magic circles and resistance bands.
From this foundation, students will become wise in the work of Pilates and can move into diverse populations and successfully apply their skills.

Our Training Philosophy
At Vitality we honor individuality, believing everyone is unique and wise. We see a direct connection between intelligent exercise and personal well being, and approach Pilates training with an emphasis on correct form and technique. Integrating the original principles of Joseph H. Pilates with current research and adaptive application we aim to increase our student’s physical activity, mental agility and personal happiness.

Pilates is a Discipline
Our training integrates the original work of Joseph H. Pilates with current research and adaptive applications along with an emphasis on proper form and technique. Our students practice the foundational principles of Pilates that separate it from other disciplines. Although these fundamentals are often incorporated into studio classes, our training provides students with an opportunity to study these elements in depth and learn to properly apply them, producing the most efficient use of muscles and maximizing benefits from each exercise.
We also offer a unique focus on calming the nervous system which awakens the deepest muscle layers in the body. This leads to inclusive joint support and balanced muscle use.

The Pilates Principles
Breathing- Continuous, deep breathing is synchronized with the choreography of movement.
Alignment - Moving with the joints in efficient alignment reduces friction and wear.
Fluidity and Precision -Smooth movement is achieved by proper pacing and fine motor control.
Concentration- Conscious awareness of the body's movement and sensations is achieved through mental focus.
Control and Isolation- Movement follows intention; specific muscle sets work while others relax.
Centering and Stabilization- stability come from a still, solid, central foundation, both physically and energetically.

"I tried Pilates @ Vitality after forays into TaiChi, yoga, and Qigong. Chronic pain as a result of an auto accident motivates me to seek modalities that improve my posture and strength as well as increase my sense of well being. After 3 years of Pilates at Vitality I became curious about the Teacher Training program and here I am - a senior citizen and half way through the program. I can't wait to help others benefit from Pilates!"
