What's Pilates?
PILATES is a comprehensive system of relating to our bodies.
Taught with precision, each body comes into its finest alignment by retraining both muscles and mind.
Pilates swiftly makes us feel strong and lean, light and limber, vigorous, sexy, and injury resistant.
Core stabilization is a primary principle of Pilates, wherein abdominal muscles are strengthened to properly
maintain the spine. Benefits are achieved efficiently, with each exercise performed in near perfect
alignment through steady and controlled movements. Pilates encourages graceful and balanced use of all
the muscles in the body, leading to an elegant and supple form.
What's Yoga?

Its ancient practice creates muscle tone, flexibility, and balance, as well as men-tal and spiritual

What is the best way for me to continue my Pilates
practice after the intro series is over?
Consider repeating the
introductory series if any, or all, of the following apply
- you missed
several classes
- the introductory series was quite physically challenging
-
you’re unclear about either the choreography or function of the exercises
- you
enjoy the detail of the work and want a firm grasp of the foundation and finer
points of Pilates
- you have an injury you don’t yet understand how to work with in a
fully supported manner
Consider moving right into the intermediate and multi-level
classes if most of the following apply:
- you’ve had previous movement or fitness
training with a good understanding of body dynamics
- you were very active before beginning the
intro series and crave a greater physical challenge
-
you understand core support and muscle isolation, along with shoulder and joint stability
-
you know your body’s limits and feel comfortable navigating more challenging classes by
simply opting out of exercises that don’t yet feel right for you; likewise you
understand the instructor may ask you to observe a new exercise before trying it for
yourself
- you’re injury-free, or you know how to manage any injuries well in the
context of the Pilates form

What should I know about making up missed intro classes?
You can make up a missed class before, during, or after the week of the missed
class, providing there is space available. For example, if you miss a class in
Week 2, you can take an extra class in Week 1, 2, or 3.
To drop-in on an intro class,
please arrive at least 5 minutes early. Let the teacher know which class you're from and how
many classes you have taken. Remember, drop-in classes are always on a 'space-available' basis.
A list of the introductory classes, along with the number of registered students, is posted on the
wall upstairs. You do not need to call ahead to drop-in on a class, nor will we hold space for
students in advance. The best way to get into a class is to show up early. Registered students
always have priority, unless they are more than five minutes late.
Can I make up classes after the intro series, but before I sign up for a new package?
Classes can only be made-up during active membership.
Do I need to register for specific classes after the intro series?
Specific class registration is only available or necessary if the classes you want to attend are frequently full.
What if I show up to a scheduled class and the instructor does not?
If a teacher “no shows” a class for any reason, we always make it a priority to compensate students for the time lost.
Please let one of the administrative staff know if you came to a class and no one was there to teach it.
